Sgt. Allen Melick of Brighton joined the USMC in 2009 as a 0352 tow gunner. Allen served with the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines based out of Camp Lejeune, NC. He completed two combat tours to Afghanistan, the first as the lead vehicle .50 cal gunner, and the second as the lead vehicle commander and assistant patrol leader. He received a Purple Heart for combat wounds during both deployments. Allen medically retired from the USMC after completing 6 years of active duty. He also participated in the Warrior Games. While Allen remains humble, he has always considered it an honor to serve his country. We honor a son, amazing father, and my soon-to-be husband. We love you!
