Our Mom served in the Navy Nurse Corps from 1942-1944, and received the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. She shared a house with other nurses in Washington DC, and met PhM1C Harold Starring at the Naval Yard where they both stationed. They were married at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Youngstown, OH, thus ending her Naval Career.

They were married for 42 years and had five children. She served for years as a nurse at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek. She passed away in 1988 and was given military honors at her burial. She was proud of her service to our country.

She was one classy lady.
