Leon V. Bonner was born on January 9, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan and enlisted in the Army in January of 1944 when he was 18 years old. He was based at Chanute Field in Illinois where he rose to Corporal as a Medical Corpsman and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
