Stanley E. Klimek served as a U.S. Naval bow gunner assigned to a Merchant Marine Ship, the Murmansk Run. The Murmansk Run was credited with shooting down three Stukas near Norway. Later, he participated in shelling beachheads at Normandy. After the Normandy invasion, he was part of the beach cleanup.
