October is a special time in Northville, when the community comes together to celebrate the season with plenty of Halloween spirit, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to enjoy all that our downtown, township, and surrounding community has to offer. As a lifelong Michigander, I love the fall with the seasonal changes and the beauty of the trees changing. Those of us who call Northville home do not have to go far to take in this beauty, either with a walk in Legacy or Maybury Park, a visit to the Mill Race or a bike ride through Maybury State Park. October is a great time to take in some local sporting events, including state-ranked NHS Mustangs Men's and Women's Cross Country teams who run their home meets in Hines Park, or a home football or soccer game. Nothing screams fall in Michigan more than Friday night lights and a home varsity football game!  Go Mustangs! Whatever your jam, the Northville Chamber encourages you to get outside and enjoy the fall! The Northville Chamber of Commerce invites residents and visitors to make Northville a destination this October, with two special events bringing the community together: Skeltons are Alive and Streets of Treats! Skeltons are Alive kicks off this weekend, October 2nd, in Downtown Northville and continues through the entire month of October. Following that event, be sure to join us for Streets of Treats on Saturday, October 24th.

Throughout the month of October, visitors to downtown Northville can enjoy the wonderfully creative Skeletons are Alive! display. Local businesses and community participants bring skeletons to life in imaginative and entertaining ways, creating a festive display that is fun for visitors of all ages. Take a stroll through downtown, explore the displays, visit local shops and restaurants, and see how creative Northville can be when Halloween arrives. Skeletons are Alive! has become a favorite October tradition and is a great reason to make a special trip downtown.

The Halloween fun continues with Streets of Treats, taking place Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to noon in downtown Northville. Local business partners will participate in an early trick-or-treat experience, welcoming families and visitors downtown for treats, activities, and plenty of Halloween fun. It is a wonderful opportunity for children to show off their costumes a little early while families explore Northville's unique downtown businesses. Streets of Treats also showcases the community spirit that makes Northville such a special place to celebrate the season. Northville truly pulls out all the stops for Halloween, and these October traditions help build excitement for the annual community trick-or-treating that takes place throughout the City and Township on October 31 each year.

Halloween isn't the only reason to visit Northville this fall. The community offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beauty and flavors of the season. Stop by Parmenter's Cider Mill for classic fall favorites,  or spend some time exploring Maybury State Park and the area's farms as the leaves begin to change. The Northville Farmers' Market is another great fall destination. Open Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the market is a perfect place to pick up seasonal favorites, including cornstalks, pumpkins, gourds, apples, and other fall harvest specialties. Whether you're visiting downtown to see the Skeltons Alive! displays, bringing the kids to Streets of Treats, shopping locally, enjoying the Parmenters Cider Mill and Northville Winery and Brewery,  or taking in the autumn scenery, October is a wonderful time to experience Northville. Come for the Halloween fun, stay for the community spirit — and discover why Northville is a special place to visit in every season.
