Domestic violence, or intimate partner violence (IPV), affects millions of people each year, regardless of age, gender, or socioeconomic status. It is a leading cause of injury for women. According to the CDC, 1 in 4 women will experience physical violence by their intimate partner at some point during their lifetime.
On November 11, at the Northville Library, Nicole Beverly will be speaking to us about domestic violence, something she knows personally all too well. Nicole is a Clinical School Social Worker, Trauma Informed Therapist, Domestic Violence Expert, Trauma Consultant and Community Activist. She is the founder and president of The ENOUGH Initiative Domestic Violence Prevention Organization that focuses on teen dating violence prevention and the Author of the award-winning book, FINDING NICOLE that has recently been released as a film of the same name.
Nicole is a survivor of domestic violence, stalking and multiple attempts by her ex-husband to hire individuals to kill her and their children from prison. Her story has been shared on Inside Evil with Chris Cuomo, Huffington Post Live, NPR and other news outlets across the world. Nicole has taken her traumatic experiences and turned them into a springboard for helping others understand and recover from their own trauma while working to create societal changes and viewpoints about trauma.
