• Honoring Donley Winfield Boyer

  • Donley Winfield Boyer enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1942. He served on Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. as a B-29 gunnery instructor until he was honorably discharged in 1945.

    In April 1946, he was commissioned as a Conservation Officer with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and was assigned to 12 townships in Washtenaw County. In 1968, he was awarded the very first "Michigan Wildlife Officer of the Year" by the DNR. He earned the nickname as "Michigan's Top Outdoor Detective". On January of 1971, he was promoted to the DNR District 14 Law Supervisor, stationed in Pontiac, MI. He retired on January 4, 1980.
