Ken Roosen volunteered for the United States Navy in May 1944 at the age of 17.  After training at Great Lakes Naval Recruit Training Command, he was assigned to LCT Group 93, Flotilla 31, where he served on the crew of LCT 1106 (Landing Craft - Tank) in the Pacific Theater, including Okinawa, and Japan.  He left the service as a Seaman First Class after the war.
