In September of 1968, Larry Leo enlisted in the army to join our nation’s fight in Vietnam. While serving in the war, Larry was quickly promoted to an E4 Specialist.  Larry earned the Award of the Air Medal (July 69) and the Award of the Air Medal (Sept ‘69) for outstanding achievements while participating in aerial flight.  Larry earned two Bronze Star Medals with V device (Aug ‘69) for heroism. These heroic acts included procuring light weapons & documented intelligence from the enemy, and drawing enemy fire on himself to help his platoon.   Larry was awarded The Soldier’s Medal for rushing to a downed, smoking helicopter to pull the pilots to safety.  Our father, Larry Leo is a war hero, and our hero.
