My dad, Robert (Bob) G. Ely, spent his service in the US Navy during World War II. He, like many others, signed up for duty when he was only 17 years old. During the war he was in Guam for most of his time where he drove an amphibious troop transporter. He didn't talk much about the war but was very proud of his service.

He was a lifetime member of the Northville VFW and helped maintain the Veteran's plot at Rural Hill Cemetery. Also, my dad proudly marched in many Northville parades. To this day, we, as his family, continue to be proud of "Bob" - husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
