Job Title: Bar Manager
Location: Northville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4012, 438 S Main Street, Northville, MI
Position Type: Part-Time or Full-Time (based on experience and availability)
Reports To: VFW Post Commander and VFW House Committee
Position Summary
Northville VFW Post 4012 is seeking a dependable and experienced Bar Manager to oversee daily bar operations in a welcoming, member-focused environment. The ideal candidate will ensure excellent customer service, maintain compliance with Michigan liquor laws, and support the Post’s mission to foster camaraderie among U.S. veterans of overseas conflicts, serve veterans, the military, and communities, and advocate on behalf of all veterans.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily bar operations, including opening and closing procedures, in accordance with Canteen Rules as determined by the House Committee
- Supervise, schedule, and support bartending staff
- Maintain inventory control and order supplies as needed
- Ensure compliance with all Michigan liquor laws and health regulations
- Prepare weekly and quarterly reports for Michigan Lottery such as Keno and Charitable Gaming
- Prepare and present a monthly report detailing bar receipts, expenses and revenue to the VFW Membership
- Handle cash management, register reconciliation, process payroll, and basic reporting
- Create a positive, friendly atmosphere for members of the VFW and their guests
- Coordinate with Post leadership on all events, specials, and entertainment
- Address member concerns and resolve issues professionally in coordination with guidance from Post leadership
Qualifications
- Previous bar management or supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge of Michigan liquor laws
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience with inventory management, record keeping, and cash handling
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- TIPS Certification and SERV Safe or similar certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Intermediate to Advanced computer literacy skills to include Microsoft Suite, Gmail, online accounting, etc.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 30–40 pounds
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Compensation
- $1200/Month, wage based on experience
