Title of Job: Member Engagement Assistant
Department: Recreation Services
Location: Schoolcraft College, Livonia, MI
Hours: Part-time, up to 28 hours per week (set schedule with flexibility for events)
Position Summary:
The Member Engagement Assistant supports the promotion of Recreation Services
programs, events, and facilities. This role involves helping to develop creative digital and
physical marketing materials, managing social media content, assisting with event
coordination, and ensuring a consistent and engaging public presence across all
platforms.
This position is ideal for a motivated, creative individual interested in gaining hands-on
experience in marketing, communications, and event promotion within a collegiate
campus recreation environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Update and maintain digital marketing technology
• Assist in planning and executing programs and promotional efforts for fitness
programs, events, and lab services.
• Assist with quarterly reporting efforts for the Recreation Services Dept.
• Create digital and print marketing materials, including flyers, posters, and social
media graphics.
• Manage social media content scheduling, posting, and engagement across
departmental accounts.
• Capture and edit photos and short videos for promotional use.
• Support event setup, promotion, and on-site coordination.
• Assist in maintaining website content and digital signage updates.
• Brainstorm and help implement new promotional ideas to increase awareness and
participation in programs.
• Assist with member and staff newsletter creation
• Track marketing metrics and engagement analytics to evaluate campaign
effectiveness.
• Provide general support to Recreation Services staff as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Creativity and a good eye for visual design.
• Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).
• Basic experience with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or Photoshop
(preferred).
• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
• Friendly and professional attitude when interacting with students, staff, and
community members.
Preferred:
• Previous marketing, communications, or event experience
• Background or interest in sports, fitness, or recreation, and/or familiarity with those
environments
Work Conditions:
• Required to work a set schedule as agreed upon with professional staff, with
flexibility needed
• This is an in-person, on-campus role.
