  • Darwin's high school internships and design experiences peeked his interest in the Air Force.   In 1955 he was assigned to Headquarters Squadron Ninth Air force, located at Shaw AFB in Sumpter, S.C..  With his drafting background, he immediately was put to work as an Illustrator Draftsman in the Management Analysis group. For this assignment, Darwin needed, and secured, Secret Clearance.   He made charts for Base Commander's briefings to the Defense Secretary.  Along the way, he was also assigned duty to Hill AFB in Ogden, Utah; and to Blytheville AFB  in Blytheville Ark.  He was granted admittance to the  Air Force tech school in Cheyenne  Wyoming where he gained his engineering skills to be gainfully employed at Ford Motor. He proudly served the United States Air Force for 4 years -1955 to 1959.

He had a rewarding AF experience which carried over into his civilian life and was honored to serve the men and women of America.  God Bless Darwin, his family, and the USA!
