Jane Elizabeth Weick was born in Eau Claire Wisconsin and raised in Yonkers, New York where she graduated from Gorton High School and attended Cornell University. She entered Womens' Army Corps in 1942 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. She continued in the Army until 1953, serving in active duty and reserve posts , attaining the rank of Captain. She saw service during both WWII and the Korean War.

In 1953, she married Lt. Colonel John F. Ott, and together they raised four children. After her children were grown, she studied for and was ordained a Deacon in the Episcopal Church. Jane passed away in 1993.
