Our Dad, Lt. JG Ray H Owen, USNR, served in WWII, piloting an F6F Hellcat in the Pacific Theater. On one mission, a wing of his F6F Hellcat was hit while he was flying about 180 miles from the USS Wasp. Using full right rudder, he made it safely back to the carrier. 

Dad married our mother, Isabel, in April 1945. After the war, they settled in Detroit where they raised their family, moving to Northville in 1978 where Dad still lives. Dad has been an active member of the VFW for 73 years. We are so proud of our Dad for his service to our country.
