  • Jack Mullen enlisted in the US Army Air Corps on December 7, 1942, the first anniversary of Pearl Harbor. He was sent to Air Gunnery School in Pensacola for training, and was then stationed in Hawaii. While there, Jack trained as a radio operator, and was eventually assigned to the Air Corps' newest bomber, the famous B-29 Superfortress. Promoted to Staff Sergeant, he flew on 30 combat missions over Japan. Before he was honorably discharged in the Fall of 1945, Jack had earned several prestigious medals, including the Distinguished Service Cross, and the Air Medal with Oak Clusters.

Thank you for your service, dad.
