  • As a carpenter apprentice, and while attending junior college, Chuck was drafted into the Army in 1951 just short of his 21st birthday. He was assigned to the 31st Infantry Regiment (nicknamed the “Polar Bears”). He spent 11 months in Korea near the ever-moving front line near the 38th Parallel, as a member of the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Platoon. After two years of service, he was honorably discharged, and married his high school sweetheart less than six weeks later. We honor his service.
